David Everest is a tutor that I’ve come to know in the past six months.  Let me explain.  Last fall at the beginning of the quarter, I checked over the records, as I always do, of my incoming students.  One student in particular had a very poor record, very poor indeed.  I advised him not to take the Calculus 3 class that I was offering, but to drop back to Calculus 1 or Calculus 2. The student told me that he had worked the past summer reviewing material prerequisite to Calculus 3 with a tutor, David Everest, and that he felt confident he could handle Calculus 3.  The student asked me to talk to David about his preparation.  I was skeptical because I thought that it would take longer than 3 months for a student with such a poor background to be brought up to par; but I did talk to David, and based upon his recommendation, permitted the student to take my Calculus 3 class.

The student was well prepared and did very well; in fact, he ranked near the top of the class.  This was a remarkable turnaround and accomplishment; I’m certain that David’s tutoring played a major role.  In the future, as I’ve already done, I will recommend students to David that have poor backgrounds but a strong desire to succeed.
